Australia de vest10 day Perth to Broome tour We make our way out of Perth and head north through market gardens and vineyards. Joining up with Highway 1, you'll be fascinated by the landscape through the Nambung National Park where we come across the intriguing Pinnacles Desert. From here we travel through Geraldton and continue on to our overnight accommodation at Kalbarri. (LD) Day 2: Kalbarri to Denham It's an early start this morning for a short drive to Murchison Gorge in Kalbarri National Park. Here, we explore Nature's Window, the Loop and Z-Bend Gorge an exhilarating 150 metre descent into the heart of the gorge before an invigorating swim in the tranquil water pools (seasonal). Day 3: Denham to Coral Bay Day 4: Coral Bay and Exmouth It's time to relax! Spend today discovering the wonders of the Ningaloo Reef and its fantastic marine wildlife. Snorkelling, cruising on a glass-bottom boat, swimming with manta rays or whale sharks (seasonal), quad bike tours or a joy flight over the reef (all at own expense) are just some of the ways you can check out this beautiful aquatic park. Late this afternoon we make the short trip to Exmouth. (BLD) Day 5: Exmouth Day 6: Exmouth to Karijini National Park Days 7 and 8: Karijini National Park It takes two full days to explore and take in the surrounding national park and gorges. Formed over 2,500 million years ago, the Hamersley Ranges are some of the most unusual landforms on earth. Deep in the gorges you'll come across cascading waterfalls and fresh, still waterholes perfect for swimming. Some of the gorges are so narrow; you can touch both sides at once! Dales, Gorge, Fortesque Falls, Fern Pool, Circular Pool, Weano Gorge and Hancock Gorge are just some of the areas we'll get to. Definitely a highlight! (BLD) Day 9: Karijini National Park to Eighty Mile Beach Heading towards the coast, we take a brief tour of Port Hedland, where the sheer scale of operations in the iron ore industry will amaze you! On the road again, we head towards Broome, spending our last night together at beautiful Eighty Mile Beach. (BLD) Day 10: Eighty Mile Beach to Broome
3 day Albany, Margaret River and the South West tour Departing Perth early we make our way south down the coast road via Mandurah and the Dawesville Cut, a man made canal between the Indian Ocean and the Peel Inlet. Further south we make our first stop at the Dolphin Discovery Centre on Koombana Bay in Bunbury. Here we have time to stretch our legs and learn all about the dolphins that make this area their home. If we are lucky the dolphins will make one of their frequent visits to the beach. We then journey down through the majestic Ludlow Tuart Forest, the largest remaining Tuart forest in the world, and on to our next destination, the Busselton Jetty. Here we take time to marvel at the historic jetty and take in sweeping views of Geographe Bay. Back on the bus and onto Yallingup for lunch and a tour of Ngilgi Cave. After lunch we make a short stop at Canal Rocks before making our way south along Caves Road where we have the chance to stop and sample some wine at one of the many wineries that have put Margaret River on the map. Next stop is the famous surf break of Margaret River (Prevelly Park) before going into Margaret River itself for a look around. The first day is drawing to a close so we make our way to our first nights accommodation at Augusta. Day 2: Augusta to Albany (H) We wake this morning to the sights and sounds of the south west. After breakfast we make our way towards the Karri forests to the largest challenge of the tour, the 60 meter plus climb to the top of the Bicentennial Tree. The Bicentennial Tree is the highest tree top lookout in the world. We need a short break to recover from the breathtaking views before we depart for our next destination, The Valley of the Giants and the Tree Top Walk. Here we have the opportunity to take a walk through the canopy of the ancient Tingle forest, 40 meters above the forest floor. It’s not long before we are back on the bus making our way towards William Bay National Park. We take time out here to view the large granite formations known as Elephant Rocks and to take a dip in the clear waters of Greens Pool. The sun is high in the sky and it is time to head east taking a short break in Denmark before we finish the day by checking out some of the south’s natural coastal phenomena The Blow Holes, The Natural Bridge and the awe inspiring The Gap. A long day has ended and we retire in Albany for our last night together. (B,L,D)
We start the morning with a drive to the top of Mt Clarence, which will give us spectacular views of King George Sound, the outer islands and the Albany township. From here we stop at Middleton Beach with the chance to walk along the heritage boardwalk, have a coffee in the cafe or just walk along the beach. Mid morning we start our journey north on the last leg of the tour. En-route back to Perth we stop to climb Castle Rock in the Porongurup Ranges and take in the breath taking views of the surrounding countryside and the Stirling Ranges. From here, we head to Carnarvon, with a stop at a banana plantation (the chocolate coated frozen bananas sold here are a yummy treat!) (BL) Day 11 and 12: Broome Day 13: Broome to Windjana Gorge Day 14: Gibb River Road and Gorges Windjana Gorge is worth exploring (there's loads of freshwater crocodiles here!) before we hit the track again to travel along the famous Gibb River road to Bells Gorge. Cool off with a refreshing swim before we set up camp for the night. (BLD) Day 15: Gibb River Road and Gorges Day 16: Gibb River Road to Parry Farm Day 17: Parry Farm to Bungle Bungles Marglu Billabong is a bird watcher's paradise and our first stop for the day. Carr Boyd and Durack Ranges provide an awesome backdrop for the trip to Turkey Creek. It's a challenging 4WD trip into the Bungle Bungle (Purnulu) National Park, and we make it there in time for sunset over the Osmond Ranges and our overnight bush camp. (BLD) Day 18: Bungle Bungle National Park Day 19: Bungle Bungles to Kununurra It's time for some 4WD action as we wind our way out of the Bungle Bungles on our way to Kununurra, the capital of the north.
