21 DAY BEST OF SOUTH AFRICA MEANINGFUL EXPEDITION

FROM MOUNTAINS TO BEACH TO BUSHLANDS, THE OPTIONS ARE ENDLESS!

Day 1: Arrival Cape Town International Airport
• Wild at Heart welcomes you in Africa. After the excitement you can sit back and the fun begins. Your first day will begin with a basic orientation. We will spend the night at our comfortable accommodation on the doorstep of the famous V&A Waterfront.
• After settling in we make our way to the 2Oceans aquarium where you can visit the various ocean animals. It is really something worth experiencing.
• In the evening we head out to the V&A Waterfront to explore the nightlife of Cape Town.

Day 2: Explore Cape Town Highlights
• After a good nights rest and a nice breakfast we head out to explore the highlights of Cape Town. Our first stop will be a visit to the Famous Table Mountain. We will catch a Cable Car up to the top of Table Mountain, which will truly assist you in getting orientated and also the beautiful views of the City of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsular, the beaches and of course Robben Island are breath taking. (Weather permitting)
• We take a boat ride across the ocean to visit one of the most Historical places in Africa "Robben Island". One cannot help but shed a tear as you take a tour of the area where Mr Mandela and many other leaders spent many years in Prison. (Weather permitting)
• After a great days adventures we head out to one of the various restaurants available in Cape Town to enjoy a great dinner and reminisce about our day’s experience.

Day 3: Explore Cape Town Highlights
• We start off our day with a bang by heading along the Coast to the Cape Point. We will stop off at Clifton Beach view and Camps Bay to take in the magnificent views of the popular beaches.
• Travel via Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Chapman’s Peak Drive between Noordhoek and HoutBay on the Atlantic Coast on the southwestern tip of South Africa is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world.
• We visit The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve at Cape Point the southernmost tip of the world-famous Cape Peninsula. Flanked by the warm Indian Ocean on the east and the cold Atlantic on the west. Although the reserve is not primarily a game reserve, animal lovers will not be disappointed. Birdlife abounds and the Reserve has a spectacular but treacherous coastline – some 26 shipwrecks have been recorded along its shores. Cape Point also boasts the highest sea cliffs in South Africa and a funicular will take us 87 m up to an old lighthouse. This lofty vantage point, offers spectacular views of the place where the two oceans meet. At Cape Point you will be able to enjoy a nice lunch with a spectacular view.
• After lunch we visit the Penguin colony at Boulders Beach, this will be one of the highlight of our Cape Town visit.
• Before heading back to our accommodation we stop off at Mariners Wharf’s in Hout Bay where we will enjoy a boat cruise to Dyers Island to view the Cape Fur seal coloney. 

Day 4: Explore the Winelands/Oudtshoorn
• Today we will start our day by visiting the famous Kirstenbosch Gardens. Here you will find the national flower of South Africa, the Protea. It is so peaceful to wonder around in this spectacular garden with its magnificent mountain backdrop.
• We journey to Oudtshoorn via the Winelands where you will have the opportunity to do some wine tasting and an interesting cellar tour of one of the famous wine estates on Route 62. We arrive late afternoon in Oudtshoorn where we will relax and enjoy a hearty meal.

Day 5: Explore the Garden Route
• After breakfast we head out to start exploring Oudtshoorn, stopping of at an Ostrich Farm where you can get the chance to sit on an ostrich or even stand on an ostrich egg.
• We will visit the famous Cango Caves where the rock formations date back millions of years ago.
• After an exciting day we head down to the coast to start our journey along the scenic Garden Route to our comfortable accommodation in Knysna. For those who are interested in an optional sunset cruise of the Knysna heads will depart in the afternoon before heading out to the waterfront for dinner. 

Day 6: Explore the Garden Route
• We start our action packed day by enjoying a 2Hour Marine Boat tour where we might be lucky to see Dolphins and Whales up close. (Weather permitting)
• After an exciting boat tour we visit Monkeyland. Monkeyland is a modern primate sanctuary established in a pristine natural high canopy forest, which is well suited to those primates fortunate enough to live there. Perhaps the most significant aspect of the sanctuary is that it is both a multi-species and free-roaming facility. Here we will learn more about these interesting creatures.
• We will stop off to enjoy a relaxing lunch before visiting Birds of Eden. Birds of Eden, is the Garden Route’s very own World Class free flight bird sanctuary. Here you will experience the magnificent world of Birds.
• Visiting an Elephant Park will definitely be the highlight of the day as you will get very close to these gentle giant and even get to feed them.
• We end off our day by checking into our Country accommodation and relaxing before dinner.

Day 7: Exploring the Eastern Cape
• After breakfast we slowly make our way to the Sunshine coast of the Eastern Cape stopping of at various points for sight seeing. You will get the opportunity to participate in various optional activities like an exciting canopy tour or an adrenaline pumping highest bungy jump and much more.
• We will visit a Lion Park where you will get the chance to get close to the King of the Wild and even stroke one of the cubs at the park. This will definitely be something to right home about. We will also enjoy lunch at the park.
• After our visit we make our way to Port Elizabeth. On arrival we check into our beachfront accommodation before heading for a nice dinner.

Day 8: Exploring the Eastern Cape
• We have a relaxing start to our day. We slowly head to East London stopping on the way at the Historical town of Grahams town.
• On arrival in East London you will have some free time to relax on the beach or participate in the many optional activities available in the area may it be sand boarding, horse riding on the beach or learn to surf by enjoying a surf lesson with a qualified surf instructure.
• We head out for a relaxing dinner.

Day 9: Southern Drakensberg
• We get an early start and head north to the Southern Drakensberg. On arrival you can check into your rooms before enjoying some of the many optional activities available at our Mountain Resort.

Day 10: Sani Pass / Lesotho
• After breakfast we make our way to the foot of the Sani Pass where we will board our 4x4 for the journey up the pass into Lesotho. The Sani Pass is the only vehicle route over the Drakensberg escarpment and into the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, which is only accessible by 4x4. We stop at a Basotho Village and get a taste of village life. We have the opportunity to have a picnic lunch with a view over the Lesotho Mountains.
• We stop of at the Highest Pub in Africa for a drink before slowly making our way back down the pass and back into South Africa.

Day 11: Explore Durban
• We get an early start and head to Durban. Durban is known in Zulu as “EThekwini”, Durban is the core of the proud Zulu Kingdom. Durban also has the largest Indian population out of India, so it has a variety of cultures and history.
• On arrival we visit Ushaka Marine World.  UShaka Sea World incorporates a unique shipwreck-themed aquarium, one of the five largest aquariums in the world. Here you can come nose to snout with the star of “Jaws” with just a few millimeter of glass between you, touch a star fish or feel a sea cucumber in the touch pool at the rocky shore.
•  We shop till we drop at the Victoria Street Market where you can pick up great bargains for Indian jewelry and African crafts while making new friends with the barters.
• After settling into our comfortable accommodation we make our way to the biggest Shopping Complex in the Southern Hemisphere where you can enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants.

Day 12: Heart of Zululand
• We head north along the coast to Zululand. We stop off at St Lucia, a recognized world heritage park that has five various ecosystems. We learn more about the area on a boat cruise on Lake St Lucia where you will also view hippopotamus family pods and the Nile crocodile in their natural habitat.
• After lunch we head to our Cultural accommodation where we will embark on an exciting cultural experience where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the amazing Zulu tribes. Here you can enjoy traditional food as well as song and dance that will carry you through the night.

Day 13: Hluhluwe Nature Reserve
• We get an early start by heading for Hluhluwe/Umfolozi the oldest Game Reserve in Africa, famous for the endangered Black Rhino. The day is mainly spent searching out most of the day animals such as Elephant, Giraffe, and Rhinoceros on an open Game Drive vehicle.
• After lunch we continue our search before heading back to our accommodation.

Day 14 & 15: Swaziland
• After breakfast we make our way towards the Swaziland Border. Once all the border formalities have been taken care off we head north to visit Swazi Candles where you will be able to see how these colorful candles are made. You can even purchase some to remind you off your time spent in Swaziland.
• Our accommodation is situated on a Wildlife Sanctuary where animals like antelope and zebras can be seen. During the next two days you will experience some of the local Swazi culture on a guided cultural tour. We will also visit the local craft market where you can purchase various Swaziland crafts right from the craft man’s.
• You will get free time to enjoy optional activities like a guided mountain bike tour on the Wildlife sanctuary property or get close to the wildlife on a Horse back safari and much more.
• We will spend the two nights staying in local traditional beehive huts experiencing the whole Swazi culture.

Day 16: Panoramic Route
• We get an early start and head back to South Africa. After crossing borders we head north to explore the magnificent scenic Panoramic Route. Our fist stop being at an Old Gold Mining Prospectors Village from the “Gold Rush” era that has been restored and has become a major tourist attraction with lots of memorabilia from yesteryear i.e. Pilgrims Rest.
• After lunch we head to the breathtaking viewpoint over the Blyde River Canyon. Definitely a must see in this area. We head to our accommodation, situated on a Private Game Farm. We will sleep in comfortable wooden chalets that will take you back to your childhood memories.

Day 17: Kruger Area
• After a good nights rest and a relaxing breakfast we head to the Wildlife Endangered species Breeding Centre. Here you will get close to Cheetahs and Wild Dogs and other interesting endangered animals.
• We enjoy lunch before making our way to the Animal Rehabilitation Centre, where we will get the opportunity to feed vultures and touch other orphaned animals. This will truly be something that will be remembered forever

Day 18: Kruger National Park
• We rise before the sun and head to the Kruger National Park for a full day of Game Viewing in the park. Kruger National Park is world renowned for hosting the BIG 5. If we are lucky we might spot some of these magnificent animals.
• We will get to enjoy lunch at one of the Camps inside of the Kruger before continuing our search for animals.
• After an exciting time in the Park we head back to our accommodation.

Day 19: Pilansberg
• We get a relaxing start to our day and enjoy a hearty breakfast before heading west to Pilansberg via the Panoramic Route and stopping off at various scenic points to take photos.
• We arrive at Pilansberg late afternoon. Pilansberg is situated close to the Lost City. After checking into our comfortable safari tents we relax and enjoy the peace and quite of the surroundings.

Day 20: Lost City & Valley of the Waves
• Head for an unforgettable day’s adventure at Sun City & Lost City. Offering the glamour and excitement of Las Vegas style entertainment as well as an exciting step back in time to an African Adventure without equal. The Lost City will bring surprises only dreamed of or read about in Adventure books with its water slides set on ancient rocks and its own ocean with waves (man made).

Day 21: Homeward bound
After an exciting time in South Africa we head for Johannesburg International Airport where we bid you:
“Hamba Gashle Umgani”
(Go well our friends) till we meet again.
